Scheduling Dashboard
The Dashboard gives you a real-time overview of your practice's appointment activity. It surfaces key metrics — total appointments, patient type breakdown, appointment statuses, and referral sources — so you can spot trends and take action without digging through raw data.
Accessing the Dashboard
Navigate to Scheduling > Dashboard from the sidebar. The dashboard loads with the current month's data by default.
Date Filtering
Use the date picker at the top of the page to adjust the reporting period. You can select:
- A specific date range
- Preset periods (last 7 days, last 30 days, this month, last month)
All charts and metrics on the page update immediately when you change the date range.
Appointment Volume
The main chart shows your total appointment count over the selected period, plotted day by day.
- The total count is displayed prominently with a percentage change compared to the previous period.
- A green arrow indicates growth; a red arrow indicates a decline.
✅ Tip: Compare month-over-month to identify seasonal patterns. Many dental practices see a dip in December and a surge in January.
Patient Type Breakdown
A donut chart splits your appointments into New and Returning patients.
| Metric | What It Shows |
|---|---|
| Total | Overall patient volume for the period |
| New Patients | First-time visitors — your growth indicator |
| Returning Patients | Patients coming back — your retention indicator |
A healthy practice typically sees a 15–25% new patient ratio. Significantly lower may indicate a marketing gap. Significantly higher may mean retention needs attention.
Appointment Status Comparison
This chart breaks down appointments by their current status:
- Confirmed — Patient has confirmed their visit
- Unconfirmed — Booked but not yet confirmed
- Checked In — Patient has arrived
- Completed — Visit finished
- Cancelled — Appointment was cancelled
- No-Show — Patient didn't show up
⚠️ A high number of unconfirmed appointments? Your reminder templates may need adjustment. See Templates to update your confirmation messages.
Referrer Analytics
Tracks how patients found your practice. If you've configured referral sources in Settings > Referrer, this section shows which acquisition channels are driving the most bookings.
This data pairs directly with the Marketing ROI module for a full picture of marketing performance.
